On December 13, 2017, the City Council approved Agreement No. 17-184 for $160,000 with Gutierrez/Associates (Consultant) to provide design consultant services for the baffling system retrofit at the existing Bakersfield Police Department firearms range.
On December 11, 2019, the City Council approved Amendment No. 1 to Agreement 17-184 with the Consultant, which extended the term of the agreement one year, to December 31, 2020, with no additional compensation.
The Consultant is providing on-going design services for this project, and has been very helpful in addressing design and construction questions that have arisen during this project. Design services are still needed from the consultant for permitting, design revisions and coordination between the Contractor and the pre-engineered metal building manufacturer. The increase in compensation will cover the additional scope of work needed in order to see this project through the construction phase.
The funding source for this agreement is through Capital Outlay Funds (COF) and Bakersfield Public Safety and Vital Services Measure. Staff recommends extending the term of the agreement through December 31, 2021. Additionally, staff recommends expanding the scope of work, with an increase in compensation of $19,380 to account for the expanded scope. The Consultant's total compensation after this amendment is not-to-exceed $179,380.
Staff does not anticipate any further amendments to this agreement in the future.
