On March 2, 2020, the Solid Waste Division reported its 2011 Scarab Windrow Turner was not functioning properly. This equipment is used to help process compost at the Mount Vernon Green Waste Facility.
Fleet Services Division technicians inspected the equipment and it was determined to have a worn out drum. A repair quote was submitted by Resource Machinery and Engineering, detailing the parts and materials needed to bring the equipment back into proper working order. The cost to repair the equipment is $82,500, plus sales tax on parts.
The repair parts are only available through the equipment manufacturer, Scarab, and Resource Machinery and Engineering is the factory authorized Scarab dealer.
Therefore, this resolution and agreement is necessary to proceed with the necessary repairs.
The funds for this repair are budgeted in the Public Works Department's Operating Budget within the Equipment Management Fund.
